In!

I'm in, though this will be my first time out on the UJ. I talked to Gabe and he said it wouldn't be anything too crazy, I just wanted to head out on the river with someone who knew where they were going.

As of now I don't have a helmet, should I pick one up before tomorrow? And please let me know if there is anything else I need to know since I'm just starting out. I have a decent roll down in flatwater/pools and have paddled a bit of the New River down by Blacksburg, VA.

Hi Brian, we'll be happy to show the way. This will be a good water level for a first run. You should definitely have some kind of helmet though - you never know, and rocks are hard. See you tomorrow.

Woops, I thought you had a helmet allready! I called Appomatox River Company and they are delivering some Shred Ready helemts to their Midlothian store in town tomorrow:

I use a WRSI Currant with vents

I wouldnt reccomend going down the upper at 6' in a kayak without a helmet. If you roll either for practice or inadvertantly you are going to be hanging upside down and bonk your head on rocks! :D
