O.C.T.-Savage 5-30

Post by open boater »

I will be coordinating a trip on the Savage River May 30. This is a scheduled release of 1000cfs arranged by the whitewater center at Wisp. You will be required to register and make a donation. Shuttle is provided by volunteers. This sets up nicely for multiple runs, I expect to run it twice.
At this level the Savage is a solid class 3 run consisting of 4 miles of pretty continuous "boogey water". The water is COLD so plan accordingly.
The plan will be to meet at the registration area around 10am.
I will be camping Friday evening at the Robert Craig CG at the Jennings Randolph Lake, site # 85
Please let me know if you plan on joining me

The first whitewater release from Savage River Dam for the 2015 season will be on Saturday May 30th. The release rate will be about 1,000 cfs, but will occur only from 10 AM to 2 PM rather than the customary 10 AM to 4 PM. The reason for this reduced duration is the lack of rainfall and associated runoff since late April and a lake elevation that is lower than normal for this time of the year. A ramping schedule will be determined later this week
