Please count me in for at least the upper.

(I'll email you directly about whether I can do the lower.)

I'm looking forward to it! Terri

Jenny - my family (3 souls -Brian, Elizabeth and William) is interested in the Upper Only. Preference would be to put in at HUGUENOT (go over the z-dam opening - no hydraulic at these water levels - about a 4 foot drop) and take out at Reedy Creek. We have done this paddle several times. Would like to take swim/lunch break river right of ChooChoo rapid if possible. All 3 of us will be running skirted LL Remix XP10s. We have a handicap car parking sticker and will be driving a Toyota Sequoia with space for 5 souls.
See you on the river,

PaddleBear (Brian)
Experienced (Class III)
Liquid Logic Remix XP10 (white water), Wilderness Systems Pungo 140 (touring)

Hi PaddleBear,

We are putting in at Meadows or Pony Pasture, not at Huguenot Flatwater. When I have put in at Huguenot, I have always portaged the dam, regardless of the water level, and would never coordinate a trip that involved running the dam. I always portage it. Too much risk if a novice missed the slot, not to mention the optics to passersby who might think that it is safe to run it at all levels. If you want to stay with your plan to put in at Huguenot, you will need to run your own shuttle to your put in. I am coordinating shuttles from 14th St and Reedy only to Pony Pasture/Meadows. You're still welcome to join us at our put in (probably be there around 11 a.m.). We will be stopping for lunch, either at Choo-choo or at the island downstream from there. Hope to see you on the river.

There is a big mound of water headed to Richmond via the James so please pay attention to the upstream gauges. As of this writing the James at Holcomb Rock is pushing 15,000 cfs. I don't know how long it will take for this to get to Richmond but it could possibly be there in time for this trip. My guess is that it's largely due to locally very heavy rains near Lynchburg.

Lean downstream and look upstream!!

BASED UPON THE PREDICTED RISE IN THE JAMES LEVEL TO 7.7 FT (EARLIER IN THE DAY THAN ORIGINALLY ANTICIPATED), THIS TRIP IS CANCELLED.
