OCT. SAT. OCT 7, Shenandoah
Join us for the fall gathering float, aka the Tom McCloud memorial paddle, on the South Fork of the Shenandoah; Newport to White House Landing. We'll meet at the boat landing in Newport on rt 340 at 10:30, drop boats, run shuttle, and be on the river by 11:15(possibly). Currently the river is low so do your rain dances. We're looking for a beautiful day on the river and hope to see everyone for a pot luck dinner and program at Grove Hill after our paddle. Who's coming?

Re: OCT. SAT. OCT 7, Shenandoah
Saturday 's plan for the Shenandoah paddle is to meet at the Newport boat landing at 10:30. Today the level is 287cfs; the lowest I've done it is 280cfs. The forecast is for 310cfs on Sat.
This trip is 8.7 miles with the boniest part in the beginning. Good for practicing river reading skills.
There can be an option to put in at the bridge in Alma, missing 2.6 miles of the pickiest part of the river. Just something to think about. Weather forecast is some rain in the morning, sun in the afternoon, and highs in the 60s. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Sending our regrets and best wishes to all. We have a schedule conflict and can't be in two places at once. We are headed to the Mid Atlantic Small Craft Festival at St. Michaels. Pretty sure we will find water in Chesapeake Bay.

Reese, is that festival always the first Saturday of October?
Re: OCT. SAT. OCT 7, Shenandoah
Yes. Any of the Coastals would enjoy it -- it's just a great big boat party.

No guarantees of course but Saturday's weather might turn out to be ideal for this time of year. Earlier forecasts were implying a cold drizzle sort of day. My latest forecast (I live nearby) says partly cloudy and 60 at our meeting time of 10:30 and sunny and 65 at 3:00.
Cheers,
